Get in My Belly!

My semi-latest obsession (after pistachio ice cream, of course) is a really good cup of coffee.  I went on a search in Bucktown over the weekend for a classic cup of joe at Ipsento.  En route, we spotted Belly Shack and it was perfect because we were both starved to the point of head aches.

I’m still on my ‘no’- carb kick so my options became limited but I decided with the Korean BBQ with kimchi and we split an order of the Brussel Sprouts with chorizo.

My Korean BBQ came with grilled flat bread…

Korean BBQ

I broke my rule and I made tiny beef/kimchi pockets of deliciousness and I loved every carbo loaded bite.  The meat was flavorful and the sauce had depth.  I’m not a huge kimchi fan but it worked with the dish.

The brussel sprouts were to die for.  I’m a huge vegetable lover but my boyfriend isn’t, but we both fell in love with these.  The chorizo is chopped up finely and provides a subtle kick of spice.  He even said these sprouts may just be one of the best things he has ever eaten (that’s saying something…).

To end things, I went with the Cinnamon/Caramel soft serve.  I couldn’t resist soft serve with toppings from Mindy Segal after visiting Hot Chocolate  just a week earlier.  Plus, I’m also currently obsessed with ice cream and proof is found in my freezer (I may or may not have 5 pints in there).

Cinnamon Caramel Soft Serve

The soft serve did not disappoint and I greedily scraped every last drop of the thick and luscious caramel off the side of the dish.  Delicious!

Belly Shack is a little off the beaten path from my usual stomping grounds but is worth another trip.

Till next time, peace out food ninjas!
